were caused by so many trying to get home earlier than normal to go vote.

For years in the Northern VA commuter hell zone I hated holidays and special events as so much more traffic was fighting for the same transit over a much smaller window. In the end you still got home at a normal time, you just spent 3 or 4 times longer getting home.
