Why I don't want Trump as the GOP nominee, even if we win in November. [View all]

Why wouldn't I want Trump as the GOP nominee?

It's easy. His followers are violent and batshit insane and are completely impervious to reason or civilized behavior.

So if our nominee beats Trump in the general, yeah that's a great thing. Except we're dealing with bitter, ugly Trumpkins who've had an extra three months to ferment their anger and hate, and they will lash out. And it will be against the Democratic president-elect, and all who supported her or him.

Better this gets nipped in the bud at the GOP convention. Trump gets denied there, and the Trumpkins take their anger out on the GOP, not the Democrats and the (sane) American people. Then they'll slowly simmer down over the next few months....but probably not enough to vote for whatever person the GOP puts up. If Trump tries to go third party, there'll be a split that will hopefully favor the Democrats.

Trust me, we don't want three more months of Trump and his loonies on our hands.
