In reply to the discussion: Breaking News: Trump can actually win the White House [View all]fullautohotdog
(90 posts)73. You're right.
This is not a football game, we have to stop thinking in those kinds of terms.
You're right. It's not. It's too important to stay home and let a moderate Democrat or liberal independent lose to a fucking flip-flopping racist nutjob because the Democratic candidate wasn't your "team" in the primaries.
Why is it so important? Because that also means you're going to probably stay home and not vote in the Senate/House elections, too, thus giving the GOP everything it needs to fuck us:
Gay marriage? Gone.
A slightly-regulated health care system? Gone. Insurance companies will be playing "Happy Days are Here Again."
Liberalization of drug laws? Gone. Expect the Rockefeller drug laws to look reasonable and raids in Colorado and Washington.
Affirmative action? Gone. Expect all benefits for women and minorities gone.
Abortion rights? Gone. Expect Planned Parenthood to go the way of ACORN.
Any semblance of responsible gun control? Gone. Expect to see handgun permits go nationwide and the fucking machine gun registry open up for manufacturers.
A fair Supreme Court? Gone. Expect a Sarah Palin or Chris Christie nomination.
As it stands, with a GOP-controlled Congress, we aren't in a position to get anything new hell, we're in a fight to keep what we have. With an aging SCOTUS, we're this close to losing ALL of what we have now.
If you can't see how important it is to vote for whoever gets the nomination, I just feel sorry for you. Once the primaries are over, everyone better get on the bandwagon and work on GOTV efforts, because the current football "teams" will turn into the Democratic Party. I don't care if Richard Nixon's reanimated head in a jar runs against Trump as a Democrat, I'm filling in the bubble for the donkey in November if I have to roll my coffin into the polling station.

Republican Governors control 32 states, and control who counts the votes.

Trump can win California in the GE. Just Like Arnold did twice. Celebrity is the most powerful force

Arnold won with 27% of the vote. He never ran in a national election. Big money smeared gray davis

He was re-elected in 2006 with 55.88% of the vote. Fame kills. Enjoy the facts and the warning.

He certainly did, but in all fairness the republican legistature did most of the screwing...

2008 voters in CA defeated Prop 8 (gay marriage), and didn't legalize cannabis

I seriously doubt Trump is going to win in California. A gubanatorial election is much different

Trump will run to Clinton's left--not exactly a clincher for the "if she loses it's the Dems' fault"

As she so candidly said, she's not the savviest of politicians. I will take her word on that!

It was during a speech she made about Republicans lying. It was actually funny.

Then you'll stay home and not vote as you threatened? That means you're worthless to us as a party

It would be nice to be able to vote FOR something for a change instead of AGAINST something/someone.
