(10,539 posts)I am glad that you apologized for some apparent rasicim you posted on other sites. Many people do not feel the need to apologize anymore. The real test is whether it changes the behavior, I hope so.
I wanted to use this opportunity for something I have been thinking about in relation to you, and a few others on this site. It seems that most (but not all) of your posts are negative to Bernie rather than positive to Hillary, or more importantly, lack a discussion of the issues and why you think your candidate is the better one. We all, myself included, could use more discussion of issues and policy of our candidates rather than attacks on members who disagree with you. We all have unique backgrounds and insight that can help in discussing policy. All here at DU could use more of this than the "gotcha" posts. It is not always easy, I know that from personal experience.
The fact that you can recognize a problem and be big enough to admit and apologize for it is a great start! I look forward to debating issues and candidates with you in the future, and maybe we can both learn some new things.
I was initially chosen to be a juror on WillyT's post that got him banned. He was a big Bernie supporter and has posted many things that I liked and agreed to. I felt that, like a responsible prospective juror in court, there are some types of cases where our beliefs, background, opinions, make us the wrong juror for some type of cases. I excused myself because I would have trouble being objective in deciding the outcome. I take jury service here every bit as important as I consider it in a case I am trying. I hope WillyT has regrets about the tone and content of his final post as he cannot apologize here if he chose to. I am glad you chose to, your slate is clean with me. I hope we can all try to remember that all of us here have many things in common just like we have differences in candidates.
For myself, the issue of campaign finance (bribes) is my hot button, over-riding issue. I am sick and tired of living under corporate rule where most of the issues we discuss here will not be solved until we get the money TPTB use to control our government, judiciary, and media out of the picture! We should be able to unite under this issue so that we can all win! Through my profession I see how the corporations have written all of the laws to their benefit, screwing injured workers and their families. While the justice system is slanted against people of color, it is slanted heavily in favor of corporations against individuals and getting worse.
