(5,649 posts)I'm sorry, I was provoked, I was angry. But... what never came with those apologies was "I will NEVER do it again" or "I WILL CHANGE".
I have watched you label all Bernie supporters as racist. Others here have labeled us all sexist. And I sit here as a woman... and I get pretty upset. I do support Bernie Sanders, wholeheartedly, but not because I am a sexist and a racist. I support him because his values match mine.
I have had to struggle out of poverty to get where I am. And I watch as my oldest daughter does the same. She is married, in nursing school and has a 4 year old child. Her BEST hope of not having her food stamps taken away or having her medical care removed is Bernie Sanders. Because her husband is African American, they have been reduced to living in some of the shittiest neighborhoods just to survive. THAT is racism. You may think it's racist to say that poverty affects African Americans in greater numbers than Whites, even at the same income level, but it's TRUE. And having someone who will fight to have medical care, food, reproductive care and housing be RIGHTS for the American people is something I truly believe in.
I do not feel the same about Hilary Clinton and I never will. She doesn't fight for me or my family or my neighborhood. She fights for Goldman Sachs and JP Chase Morgan. Because I am in the middle class, her policies will likely benefit me... but I do not believe they will benefit the lower class - and no matter how much you want to protest or scream at me about how racist that is or how racist I am... I stand by that. And I don't vote strictly on who will benefit me the most. I vote based on who I think will benefit the country most.
But you have consistently labeled these values as racist, wrong, impure, sordid...
Given how often you called for PPR'ing people who you have decided to be racist, I find it disheartening that no one calls for PPR'ing people who are anti-Semitic. But hey... I think PPR'ing anyone kind of sucks, but if you are going to do it.. I think it should be universal and not all one sided.
We'll see how much this apology means in your future actions. You wrote that post over a month ago. You could have deleted it before it became public. You didn't. You waited until someone brought it up here. So my feeling is that the apology is more to cover public embarrassment than because you feel remorse... but we'll see.
