(15,522 posts)You have the regulars who basically know what's going on enough to chime in and take sides. You have the people who are superfans who really get into it and know every single detail and keep notes. And you have the people who only occasionally wonder in and have no clue what's going on and are sometimes collateral damage as a result.
With the primaries, the same behaviors are thrown into the candidates with gusto, with another added layer. The kinds of people who really get involved and take notes will sometimes really get behind their candidate and anyone who isn't with them is the enemy, full stop. I think some of the regulars will fall in and take sides and support the super fans, but not all. Many mostly just stay out of the fray. I consider myself a regular who tries to stay out of it mostly, but sometimes gets caught up in a dust up here and there.
