(5,892 posts)I have witnessed your tireless support of Hillary. Given this tenacity, I am not surprised that it has come to this; not that I got any indication that you harbored any bigotry, but that when vying for the last word on these discussion boards, one can get caught up in the desire to meet fire with fire. I have read your relevant post stating your "hatred" for Sanders and his supporters which I know was hyperbole. Still, you should have known, as an AA liberal, that targeting any group of individuals with what you said about our Jewish brothers and sisters would not be received well (nor should it have been). Yet, I can identify with the frustration that must have provoked you to type those unkind words; particularly, when those with whom you are trying to get to appreciate where you are coming from are dismissive of you or your feelings.
My suggestion is to not only continue your "fight" for Hillary (as if you need my permission), but also to know when to stop commenting and move on. It seems that you got caught up in flame bait and within the heat of the moment decided to say what you believed to be the most hateful things you could think of in order to demonstrate how upset you were about the post to which you were replying. I am just as guilty as anyone when it comes to the heat of these elections. To be honest, I may have even rec'd the offensive post by WillyT that got him banned without ever reading it just because he is a Sanders supporter. If I did recommend that post, I owe you and my other AA brothers and sisters an apology for being so focused on my own candidate that I missed the bigotry being leveled at us.
Lastly, if anyone attributes your actions to other Hillary supporters, then they are not too bright. You are you, and your friends are them. I have my issues with SOME Hillary supporters, but anti-semitic trash talk is not one of them.
There appear to be a few posters who see blood in the water and want to make you suffer more than you already are. I am not one of those people. And not that I like to be a follower, but Skinner's attempt to tone things down around here has given me pause to what I reply to, and how I reply to it. None of us are perfect and I am sure to type or post something I will regret (okay,I already have, but this is not about me!). With that being said, I hope we can continue to bicker (in a civil way) throughout this primary season. Stay strong and know that some of us on the other side of the aisle admire your willingness to apologize.
