(3,830 posts)Having been involved in Democratic politics in Texas during the 2000 election and for some years after, working at precincts during elections, I understand the behind the scenes work that needs to take place to make this happen. Just the fact that most states now don't require a Civics course for graduating seniors is just another reason we see so many people who don't understand the process. Elections are hard work and the people who put in the time and the effort to make this possible deserve a medal. When you live in a state like Texas that is run by the Republican Party, getting things done for Democrats who run and the funding for their campaigns and beyond, can sometimes be a bridge too far. It needs to change, but we all need to work on it.
