(4,452 posts)I sort of understand that thinking but do you really consider all the possibilities for manipulation? What is the chain of custody? What verification procedures are in place for authentication? There are probably a dozen other objections I have to VBM or online voting or any form that advances the chances of fraud or manipulation.
Voting is simple tabulation, the more technological or disassociative the process is the greater the chance for manipulation.
In a manner similar to not knowing or being able to verify my vote is tabulated on some electronic machine with operating commands that are not public knowledge, I cannot rely on a VBM system that doesn't provide the chain of custody oversight and a tabulation system that is not cross checked to assure the count is accureate and observable.
