20. I heard him speak and predicted that he will be the Republican candidate

when all is said and done. The results of the primaries and caucuses suggest Trump will be the candidate, but I heard on KPFK yesterday that Republican rules require that the winner have 50.1 percent (if I understood what was said correctly) of the votes in the primaries and caucuses going into the primary to be nominated. It would be very difficult, maybe impossible, for Trump to achieve that goal.

So it may be an open convention in which case, Cruz would be the compromise candidate provided no scandals or other problems make his candidacy impossible.

Cruz is a fantastic speaker for Evangelicals and fanatic conservatives. He gets this revival tone in his voice and that carries crowds.

Hillary with her dry speaking tone, her utterly detached, unemotional presence, her awkwardness, etc. is no match for Ted Cruz in terms of appealing to a crowd.

Bernie comes closest to being able to compete with Ted Cruz's speaking ability. That's because Bernie is genuine and sincere while Ted Cruz is an Elmer Gantry if you are familiar with that story. Ted Cruz manipulates his crowd. Bernie fires it up with genuine emotion.

I do not think that Hillary will make a good candidate against Ted Cruz. She will be lost and not know how to deal with him.

I recognized the speaking power of Ted Cruz with regard to his likely audiences because I grew up going to old-time revivals and listening to evangelists. There is a certain style, a certain rhythm and tone -- it's almost like a singing style -- that moves certain audiences. Ted Cruz learned this from his father and from the religious culture that he grew up in.

Ted Cruz will make Hillary look even more elite and intellectual and colder than she is. Not a good match for Democrats, but who knows? Ted Cruz is the kind of guy who could well have a skeleton in his closet that makes some Evangelicals uncomfortable but that is a long shot, a very long shot.

Hillary would win on the issues, I suppose, but Ted Cruz's speaking ability will be tough for Hillary to deal with.

No problem for Bernie however. Bernie would make Ted Cruz look like an irrelevant fool.
