On the other hand, there's "not picking a fight with somebody" and then there's "explicitly praising them."
It puzzles me, in the same way that Clinton going out of her way to remind everybody how much she likes Kissinger puzzles me. The way I see it, there is a set of people who probably don't care much, and/or aren't aware of who people like DWS or Kissinger are, and then there are people who do know, and are pretty offended by it. There's just no up-side to it, but plenty of possible down-side.
