66. Abortion based on gender or race should be discouraged.

The law should not have been passed because it seeks to control what pregnant women do and don't do but, as a general idea, the concept of discouraging women from having abortions because of the gender or race of the foetus is the right thing to do.

India and China have a long history of parents deciding to abort females just because they want a son, so much so that there is a demographic imbalance. Daughters are seen as expensive to raise and of little social and economic value. This is wrong and perpetuates the myth that girls are worse than boys.

The idea of aborting a foetus just because it has the wrong skin colour is also wrong and plainly racist.

I will probably get flak for this but, to me, abortion based solely on gender or race is shocking, wrong, sexist and racist.
