(16,698 posts)Global trade is only global for goods, and property/intellectual rights. Labor isn't free to move around the world like goods are. Quite the opposite, as we see in Europe right now, people who move for jobs are referred to as "economic refugees" and that is a basis for excluding them. You have agreements making intellectual property rights "global", but you don't have "global" trade unions. Doctors in one country can't go to work in another. Neither can lawyers. But the patent on the drugs prescribed can be nearly global. You can make a movie, and control the world wide rights, but the worlds actors don't all belong to SAG. Each country controls their own labor markets. It isn't free trade, it's free business.
Where's that "brilliance"?
