6. Just a "pet peeve", but

could we on DU please stop calling this a "bathroom bill"?? That's using the bigots terminology.

reminds me of that scene in Jaws where the Mayor is saying; "you say barracuda and people go, 'meh'...you say 'shark', and you've got a full-blown panic just in time for the 4TH of July".

The Repugs NC Legalize Discrimination Bill has about as much to do with "bathrooms" as the typical T-bagging brain has to do with reality. They are using the "scary" image of some Ted Bundy type dressing in a chiffon mini so he can peer at your wife, mother or daughter while they pee.

That's what they want you to believe it's about, but we all know it's not. It's about the person who happens to choose to live as the gender they really identify with, being able to go into a restroom, relieve themselves, and leave...just like every other person does.

Truth be told, I know some transgender folks that are female, but appear more male than The Rock. Do they really want The Rock going into the ladies restroom just because he has a "hoo-haa"?

We need to get over ourselves. I spent 30 years in the Navy, and you would not believe the number of bars, restaurants or public places I went into overseas that simply had one bathroom. Heck, there was a place in Ecuador that just had a trough out back...and I was in a beach bathroom in Corfu, Greece one day and a young lady came in, put her leg up on the sink and commenced to shave her legs...and other areas...as if I didn't exist.

This law they passed has nothing to do with keeping pervs out of bathrooms, and do you know how you can tell that? It's because they INSIST INCESSENTLY that it does.
