GAINESVILLE — Cara Jennings, a longtime Lake Worth activist and a former city commissioner, was captured on video Tuesday berating Gov. Rick Scott at a coffee shop over the state’s handling of health care issues and calling him a curse word.

“You cut Medicaid, so I couldn’t get Obamacare,” Jennings shouted at Scott as he approached the counter at the Starbucks store in downtown Gainesville. “You don’t care about working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here.”

Scott and a group of about five people walked into the coffee shop at about 5 p.m. Tuesday and left with a lecture but no coffee. A video of the exchange was captured on a cellphone by a patron and posted to YouTube, where it had been viewed more than 200,000 times as of Wednesday evening.

In Boca Raton on Wednesday for the ceremonial signing of a bill to support Israel, Scott said he had not seen the video and scoffed at the notion of meeting and speaking with Jennings.
