Chris Christie's judicial wedgie [View all]

<snip>
It's been a tough few months for Gov. Christie.

First, his presidential ambitions died an untimely death at the hands of the two worst Republican candidates in recorded memory.

Second, still blinded by the possibility of getting out of Jersey, he pledged his fealty to one of those candidates, a man who more closely resembles a bag of off-brand beef jerky than a viable presidential candidate.

Now, forced to return to his day job of governing the state of New Jersey, the forlorn governor has been judicially pantsed in his six year quest to reshape the state Supreme Court in his own image.

After literally years of stonewalling, the governor finally gave in and nominated a Democrat for a state Supreme Court vacancy. A vacancy he created when he summarily dismissed another justice in good standing in the hopes of bending an entire branch of government to his will.

In surrendering the court fight he handed state Senate President Steve Sweeney, a prospective gubernatorial candidate and a democrat, a big win.
