14. I'd say it's less about social justice and more about social experiment

In Rust the random race and sex do serve a purpose in the type of world the developers wanted to create. It gives a more realistic proportion of male and female avatars, and combines with the other permanent randomized physical traits to give the player a permanent identity. The end goal is in part at least to make your avatar recognizable to others based on look rather than a name floating above your head. Also, going by the type of game they made and other interviews I've read, I think they find the social aspect (negative reaction and all) particularly fascinating.
