Look, I agree that the mom is a twit and the kid really should get her shots for her own sake and everybody else's. But there have been ten cases of polio this year, last year there were 74. And the only reason that region still has it is because it's a wartorn, impoverished, impassably mountainous and religiously backward place. The chances that somebody is going to have the resources to get out of there, actually do so, not get their vaccinations at some point on the way, get into Germany and then get permission to travel to the US without proof of vaccination against said highly communicable disease?

I understand why that poster is worried about her grandchild. I would be too. But that's definitely the disease I'd worry least about, at this time. It's teetering on the edge of extinction.
