Melissa Click, the former University of Missouri media professor who was let go after being caught on camera harassing reporters covering a campus protest, has a theory on the real reason she was fired: the color of her skin.

Click told The Chronicle of Higher Education in an interview that Mizzou actually wanted to send the message that “the university and the state wouldn’t tolerate black people standing up to white people.” The university was the center of a massive Black Lives Matter-affiliated protest in fall of 2015 after black students accused the administration of not adequately addressing their fears and concerns.

“This is all about racial politics,” Click said. “I’m a white lady. I’m an easy target.”
