8. The struggle continues

There are all kinds of ways to push the country forward. Black folks have pushed, pulled, dragged the rest of the country into making small steps and sometimes it's 2 steps forward and 1step back. The resistance from our government and white people has been daunting but the civil rights movement and especially black activism has withstood murder and mayhem.
I believe Obama, as someone who choose the political route to push equality is urging some of these young folks to join the political system to effect change. It is not enough to protest you have to change the politics. There will be some who remain outside politics, like mlk or Malcolm but we also need people like McKesson who uses his experience in the movement to pivot to politics. He may not win but I hope he and the people on his campaign sharpen their political savvy. I think out of the blm movement, we will see some take the political route, in local races at least I hope so. Over the past couple of years I've been so impressed with some of the voices coming out of the movement. It is the struggle that continues. Never give up.
