(58,785 posts)say they will refuse to vote for him. He never drew a solid majority of those who share his professed ideology. I think 17?% of GOP voters said on a recent poll that they'll vote for Hillary Clinton. Although he has many supporters, a good number are also using him as a protest candidate to screw over the GOP leadership. They know he's dreadful.
These numbers will change as the GE develops, of course. But which way? Conservatives tend to be loyal followers and many will want to fall in line behind him. But The Donald is going to be on full display as never before. He is going to come under the intense scrutiny of the entire nation.
The GOP was afraid to anger him into going third party, so handled him with kid gloves. We emphatically are not and will not. He's been functioning quite well while the standard was how-low-can-you-go among his own. We're now going to see how someone with full-blown narcissism disorder handles the intense stress and criticism from all sides of a general election neither side can afford to lose.
Most experts, including on the right, feel Hillary will slice and dice him like a big orange squash.
