30. My husband has to be laid back to put up with me
Wed Apr 27, 2016, 02:12 PM
Apr 2016

I am NOT laid back, though I try to be. As I've aged, it's gotten easier - most of the time I don't have the energy to work up outrage like I used to.

Most of the Republicans my husband knows, he's known for decades. Unfortunately as the GOP has moved more and more to the right, so have his friends. There is one guy whose calls I will not answer - not since 2008. He no longer calls the house phone and only calls my husband's cell.

On the other hand, my friends have trended more and more left. Go figure.

I would have expected the other way since I was raised conservative and he was raised liberal - his parents were the only white members of the NAACP in his home town and his brother worked for the Eugene McCarthy campaign before he got out of high school and for the Jimmy Carter campaign just after he got out of law school.

I think being raised liberal taught him to be more tolerant. I try but it's just not worth dealing with the BS any more.
