about the different audience types, one problem is that liberal talk radio listeners tend to want facts and information and don't need to connect to a group of people "like themselves" as much as conservatives do. Conservatives tend to want reassurance and a feeling of being part of a community that feels as they do. That's before issues themselves are even addressed.

Programming that works for left wing audiences just does not work for the right wing, and vice versa. Written material conveys more information, is more portable, and ican be rechecked. And, of course talk radio is better for a feeling of connection and companionship.

So no surprise that left wing talk radio has much smaller audiences and has never produced a Limbaugh, much less a crowd of them, and right wing talk radio draws far more people and does not do segments on the intersection of suburban spread and the bull moose of northern Maine.
