Why would Trump choose to destroy Cruz on the last day of the campaign? [View all]

Things got extremely nasty today with Trump pushing the Cruz Sr. JFK conspiracy. Why would Trump go so negative when he knew he was going to win? My guess...He wanted to knock Cruz out emotionally. And it worked.
