Thinking is hard. Emotions are easy.

When presented with facts; cold, hard numbers that cannot be refuted, it is far easier to start yelling gibberish in response as that is easy to do.

Hating the 'Other' is something we as humans have done for, well, since we first walked upright.

And having your betters tell you who to direct your hate at usually works well, keeping the peasants off your back as the real cause of their anger...until it doesn't anymore.

Ask that Louis guy from France how that worked out for him until 21 of January, 1793.
