Thing is, he doesn't want anyone who is more personable than himself (not that he's a charmer, but he has a LARGE personality). Gingrich is as pompous an ass as he is. Palin is too large for life and goes off script routinely. Huckabee is probably the best one in terms of his avuncular nature, but the danger is that the VP would be more popular than the P-candidate.
Jindal is a good pick because a) He won't outshine the boss, b) He's inoculation against the "TRUMP, YOU RACIST FUCK" charges (See? See? I picked the little brown one!!!) I guess I have to say 
because we've got way too many irony-impaired here, nowadays....
Christie is in the Cheney seat, but I doubt history will repeat--Christie's loyalty will earn him a promise that he'll be the AG (though he'll work hard for naught).
