In reply to the discussion: Trans folks are not deadly weapons. The comparrison is dehumanizing. [View all]beevul
(12,194 posts)43. Lets examine your claim, OP, for truthiness.
Your statement:
Trans folks are not deadly weapons. The comparrison is dehumanizing.
What motivates folks to make such comparisons?
What motivates folks to make such comparisons?
Your statement contains an implicit claim, that someone actually IS comparing Trans folks to deadly weapons.
In support of this claim, you link to this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/1172192619 which reads:
Thread title: "Poll in regard to the moral panic over open carry of firearms"
First line in the post:"In your opinion, how does it compare to the current right-wing transphobic moral panic?"
Nowhere are trans folks being compared to weapons.
So, in an effort to game a jury (which IMO crosses the line into gaming the jury system, and Skinner has been very clear how he feels about gaming the system), you implicitly accuse another poster of doing something which they clearly, unambiguously and obviously did not do.
But that wasn't enough for you was it. You got away with it once, and you just couldn't resist doubling down on it and posting it to GD. I appreciate that. It gives me an opportunity to dissect and expose the dishonest nastiness of your claim for what it is, out in the open for all to see.

OP
What a maroon. I can't believe someone actually went there. Must have been a gun-nutter.

I didn't- I compared two moral panics to each other, *not* 'people to inanimate objects'

The OP isn't about me. But your attempt to change the subject is revealing. (nt)

Perhaps a self-avowed Zimmerman supporter is not the one to be spreading that message?

How many other people given a fair trial and found not guilty do you want incarcerated?

No shame accrues, as the doctrinaire and mendacious have no moral authority

It *would* have been dehumanizing, if such a suggestion had actually been made.
