(1 post)Taxing someone is like punishing the kid who gets the good grades, or the athlete who wins a race.

What should be controlled is Monopoly, so the market is Free, and everyone has an equal economic opportunity.
.
When you are born, all Land and Natural Resources are already owned by someone.
That's a collective Monopoly.
.
It's like turning up at a game of Monopoly late, when all the properties on the board have already been allocated to players, and you are told to buy your way into the game with only the $200 you get from passing "GO" each round.
.
You are not starting off in a Free Market, you are starting off in a Monopolised Market.
.
Anyone who still thinks you should now be taxed on the $200 you earn, is too stupid to breathe oxygen by themselves.
.
If you want to make the Monopoly game and all players economically equal, then the rents charged when someone lands on a property, should be divided by the number of players in the game, and distributed equally to all players.
.
Then being the richest player, would come down to strategy, skills and lucky chances,
and no player would be excluded from the game.
.
Charge Rent on the Economic Value of Land and natural resources,
and use it for public purpose, or distribute it equally as a Universal Income to everyone.
.
It's called Georgism, after the American politician and economic philosopher, Henry George,
who proposed it in his best selling book, "Progress and poverty", published in 1879.
.
Proponents of his system discuss it as Land Value Tax (LVT), or Earth Sharing, or Geoism.
.
It's universally agreed that it's the cheapest method of collecting revenue, and the most unavoidable.
.
It was used very successfully in Denmark.
