these crimes are categorized under; now, the news can say we have almost one-a-day "Mass Shooings" when the def didn't exist for statistical purposes before 2011. And the venerable "Mass Murder" has gone from four to three to pump up the totals. The upshot is you can't have good analysis of ANY problem when the data is shifting. Are mass murders up or down, what is causing them, what can government do, etc.? We can indeed use rhetorical flourishes like "funny" murders, however.
