Thankfully, the CDC is permitted to research health and safety related issues regarding swimming pools.

Unfortunately in 1996, the NRA accused the agency of promoting gun control and Congress threatened to strip the agency’s funding, and have denied them the dedicated funding to research health and safety issues regarding guns.
