"I can't release them during the audit." Of course, that's a lot of baloney.

Given all the years, I have a feeling that there are a lot of copies around both in paper and digital form. I will be surprised if some don't come out.

BTW, there is a real risk that Trump himself will arrange an unauthorized release of one of the most favorable returns. He will then use that for two purposes: 1) to deceive the public into thinking that the released "good" return is representative of all of them, and 2) to claim that the evil Clinton invaded his privacy by somehow securing the return. He loves the victim role.
