when he offered it up to the Reich. The only thing that saved it from the chopping block was the suicide pact of the Caucus Room Conspiracy people. Otherwise it would already be on the way out.

Clinton's "pragmatic incremental-ism" is a dodge. The DLC Third Way crowd has the same goals as the Reich - they just want to do it in slow increments. So my choices are: lose the safety net and 60+ years of progress by 1000 cuts in slow increments, or, quick?
