They simply are brainwashed and are incapable of understanding what is what.

But this is an issue for many more than veterans, just hurts more to see them thinking like this.

Actually they are not incapable, but propaganda and brainwashing, like making Hillary Clinton's name synonymous with crooked or whatever, is very very hard to overcome.
