Banning NYC_SKIP and loonix were kinda like a rancher hanging a wolfs carcass on the fence as a warning to others. Anyone with any time working in organizations could see that. What he didn't anticipate was the way Hillary supporters would use that cover to insult, demean and belittle progressives, essentially reincarnating new and more numerous NYC_SKIP and loonix type posters. Until recently my perception is the ban hammer has been unevenly applied.

The other metric is post volume and page views. I'm guessing they are doing ok.

DU was created at a time of opposition to power. It's easy to coalesce to oppose war and economic injustice. Much harder to defend the same when your in power now almost eight years. Any criticism of the status quo is inevitably attack on the PTB, which are Democrats.
