(3,966 posts)and thinks this, rather than bathrooms and locker rooms, is where the big area of contention will be, for reasons illustrated in this thread. The usual left/right, religious/nonreligious polarities break down. Allowing transgender athletes to compete against biological females will disadvantage the biological females, at least some of the time. And right now, there's no blood test/hormone level hurdle. If someone says they identify as a female, the guidance coming from higher authority says you are to consider them female, regardless of any other factors. This potentially puts (at least some) feminists at odds with (at least some) LGBTQ activists. The courts will probably have to hash it out, and a lot of people will be dissatisfied with whatever the outcome is.
