In reply to the discussion: Folks I think we are at the precipice of a Democratic Landslide [View all]spud_demon
(76 posts)179. Trump is flawed, but Republican voters even vote in mid-terms
I don't see such a rosy picture.
Assuming Hillary really does have the nomination locked up due to the Hillary Victory Fund:
* Die-hard Republicans will still vote R down-ticket.
* Disaffected/racist conservatives will vote for Trump and probably straight R all the way.
* Centrist independents will vote for Hillary, but not necessarily for down-ticket Dems.
* Die-hard Dems will vote straight D.
* Disaffected liberals (read: Bernie supporters) will split between capitulation and various forms of protest, including staying home, which deprives down-ticket Democrats of what were easy votes in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

I doubt TX, but GA is certainly in play. The Senate will go Dem, with gains in the House.

Hillary represents the future of women's rights. Trump supports the customary role of women.

No, Dem voters, by over a 3M-vote margin, just nominated the most qualified candidate in history.
