1. Well said! I think your point #4, in context with the others, is exactly why

it needs to be called out as a hate crime rather than "Islamic terrorism" (which so far we don't even know if that is remotely accurate).

Some would say that if the person is Muslim and they commit this crime, it was caused by their religion. Whether that is true or not, I don't think it's helpful to blame it on their religion. As you point out in #4, that only helps elect Trump. Surely no one who cares about their gay friends and family members would want that to happen.

Anyway, you have worded your points better than I did in my own OP on the topic. (This is why I almost never post OPs, sigh. I always realize by the responses that I have not expressed myself very well.)
