Any true Salafi jihadist knows the difference and would consider
Shiites like Hezbollah to be infidels. He was claiming to be on
both sides of the Syrian civil war.

Either he was ignorant, just boasting, or out of his mind.
It is questionable that any professional jihadists would
work with him.
