(6,001 posts)13. It is downright bizzare to me that Louisiana and Florida both have about
1.5 million gators, but there have been 337 recorded attacks by gators in Florida and 2 in Louisiana.
It has to be in some part a product of the number of residents who did not grow up in Florida and the larger number of tourists. I bet the is more swamp land filled in for development in Florida also, so we moved into the alligators habitat more frequently there. But the numbers are so far apart, it is hard to explain.
