Our friends and acquaintances here are of course,...multifaceted, some of them with some facets that are quite wonderful. It is here, though, that we finally understood that the real reason you don't talk politics and religion in gatherings is not because people can't be polite but rather to avoid replacing liking with an excess of politeness in future.
