19. i fear this story for the clarence thomas effect

on the one hand, kudos to anita hill for coming forward and helping bring sexual harassment into the public consciousness. by and large the workplace has improved as a result.

however, the circus the resulted turned thomas' confirmation hearing into a verdict on his particular harassment case -- the bar for lifetime tenure on the highest court on the land was lowered all the way to "just so long as we can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you sexually harassed this person, the lifetime appointment is yours."

i wanted thomas rejected for his lack of experience and for the demonstrable fact that he was a right-wing hack, not a jurist. completely inappropriate for the supreme court. the media circus pushed all that aside.

i do *not* want a similar thing happening with trump!
