IMNSHO, it's probably because they know that the Repub Party is cutting their own throats in public, and for once, they might just take down asshole "reporters" like Joe Scar down.
I think the Trump phenomenon is telling us something, that being that the Repub base is not as large as they have been making out. Much like the "Moral Majority" of the 80's, they are neither.
