(14,180 posts)Then one day I woke up, and voila! It was on my system. Don't like it, didn't want it, and it pisses me off that Microsoft took it upon itself to do something on my computer without my say-so. My system is definitely slower than before. (It's old anyway, and I'm thinking about getting a laptop, but I want to make these kinds of decisions on my own time, not because Microsoft has forced me to.) It still takes me a few minutes to get reoriented as to where things are.
I was very afraid about my iTunes library too. If that would go, so would my reason for living (joke). But I've had no issues with that -- the iPods charge just fine and I can download and synch music as usual. But I will always have those files on an external hard drive because I flat don't trust Microsoft to not do something that WILL hose them.
Everything about Microsoft always has been counterintuitive, which I guess is why they feel they have to jam "upgrades" down our throats. Microsoft's "improvements" too often cause more problems than they allegedly solve.
Obviously you're not the only one who has had costly results from this -- class action lawsuit may be in order?
It's precisely this kind of shit that is turning me into a Luddite.
