As much as monied interests would like to conflate economic progressivism with "racist whites," they are not the same. But they are two responses working and middle class people have to their growing awareness they are disempowered and exploited. Conservatives respond to any crisis by looking for a cultural outgroup to blame. Liberal progressives keep their eyes on the money and the power, which is where the real problems lie.

But ideas like a fair minimum wage, debt protection, less interventionist warfare, and universal healthcare and education are gaining ground across the board. What no one is buying anymore is that the wealthy and their corporations know what's best for everyone.

It's going to be a mess, but the pendulum is already swinging.
