(39,155 posts)to make steel for construction? The number one consumer of the products we made in the mill where I worked for 40 years was the construction industry. When I started in the company in 1970 we had around 17000 employees now we have ZERO. There is another steel company in the valley that employed about 13000 in 1970 that also made a lot of products used in construction there are maybe 500 employees working now. Between those companies we lost about 29500 direct good paying steelworker jobs I have heard that for each job in the mill it created around 7 jobs outside. There is a loss of about 200,000 jobs in 45 years and a good portion of that was just from steel used in production of products used in construction. I do agree 100% with the rest of your post.
