(21,272 posts)I'm especially glad that is has encouraged other women to come forward. But this was not rape. She could have quit her job.
Let's look at another situtation. When I was in college, I lived in an old duplex that had no heaters. It had one gas outlet and one teeny tiny heater that would even heat the living room. We were in mid Texas. Normally having no heat would mean extra blabkets and sweaters. But we had an extremely cold winter and an ice storm. No amount of electric heaters, sweaters and electric blankets was enough to keep warm in this old drafty house. I went to see a lawyer to see if we could force the landlord to provide a decent heater. The attorney said " To have a case, you have to say not only that it is not tolerable, you have to NOT TOLERATE IT. You have to move out and sue him for your deposit and damages, but you cannot stay."
So if Ailes said "Put out or I'm not going to renew your contact." then he is absolutely in the wrong. But not having your contact renewed and being fired are different things.
I think there's a damn good chance that she didn't get her contract renewed because she spoke out after the Orlando massacre and said something has to be done about guns.
