In reply to the discussion: Driving while Democrat down south. [View all]Hortensis
(58,785 posts)46. I'd make a little statement on my vehicle, no big deal,
but here in one of the most conservative counties in the nation it'd be asking for trouble, just as you say. It's also not a reasonably new and costly enough car that would signal I'm living a worthy and conforming life. It's a small, old pickup I bought long ago to haul stuff around.
In any case, studies show discrimination on the basis of political orientation is very real all over America these days. Some liberal against conservative, but stronger and more pervasive conservative against liberal. Cars are the least of it. Being fired, or not hired in the first place. Our son's business would almost certainly lose contracts in this county if certain people connected him with us.

That's a point to consider. There were plenty of other cars in this county with that sticker in 2008

Be careful Ford Prefect! I live in south Texas and have to be very careful what I say in public.

Same way for me here in NE Tarrant County. But what really sucks is the cons...

If I did not have family here that I am helping take care of, I would uproot to another state.

As I said, I had eleven at one time. They were on the car, accumulating, for three years.

I don't mean someone doing damage, I mean the glue potentially causes damage if I want to remove it,

I'm impressed that whoever ripped it off was able to read the big words...or were they?

It is better to be lucky than good even for someone from the neighborhood of Betelgeuse.

It's like posting on the internets, the less you say, the less can be misconstrued. nt
