We have a real problem in this country of African Americans being treated historically and to this day as though they are less human than whites and members of some other minorities; and the phrase "Black Lives Matter" encapsulates that shameful history and current reality.

If we want to say human life should have a value, fine. As a bleeding heart liberal, I certainly agree with that with every bit of my bleeding heart and conscience. But let's not try to convey that concept by diluting the message with which "Black Lives Matter" seeks to impress us. They are two very different messages, being conveyed for very different reasons. JMO
