After lurking for quite a bit of time just to respond to this post.
Cleveland is an amazing town. I live here too. If I didn't care for it, I would simply leave.
Cleveland is nothing like it was ten, five or even two years ago. You state the "lake effect snow", but last winter (particularly December) was very, very mild.
Everyone I know--family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances enjoy the many, many interesting amenities Cleveland has to offer. I don't know anyone actively looking to leave the area.
