He had most definitely reached the conclusion that protest wasn't going to go anywhere and that "blood and money" was the only language that would make people listen. I've heard those same points made in more subtle ways by some activists in the last few months. Wouldn't surprise me to learn this influenced him.

After Dallas I kinda figured there might be some copycat actions. Sad to see that might very well be the case.
